This is the Fairy Tale Inspired 2022 Fic & Art Exchange!
This is an exchange where we are matched up to create and receive fic and art inspired by our favorite fairy tales, fables, legends and myths! 🧙
Re-imagine your favorite characters at the round table in Camelot ⚔️. Write about your characters escaping the clutches of the big bad wolf 🐺 or making deals with sea witches 🧜🏿. You could even draw them delving into the Underworld and playing fetch with Cerberus! 🐕

Nominations: Fandom & Relationship
You may nominate up to twenty fandoms with up to twenty relationships per fandom. When nominating relationships, please disambiguate all relationships by fandom and avoid the use of piping where possible.
Ships marked with a / are romantic or sexual. Ships marked with a & are platonic.

➡ Nearly all fandoms and relationships are allowed in this exchange, including RPF, poly, underage, incest, and non-consensual pairs. The only ships nominated that will not be accepted are ships depicting real people under the age of 18 and non-famous real people.
➡ Relationships may only be nominated under a fandom wherein all involved characters appear, with the following exception for adaptations:
For adaptations, you may nominate a character that appears in the original but has yet to appear in the adaptation. For example, Miles Morales is a character in the Spider-Man comics and games who has yet to appear in the MCU. For this exchange, Miles can nonetheless be nominated under the MCU. Please note that when you nominate a yet-to-be-adapted character, you are giving your author complete creative license to imagine how the requested character might be adapted and introduced into the requested fandom.
➡ For expanded universe fandoms... in general, each fandom/universe/timeline should be nominated separately. For example, MCU movies and tv shows should be nominated under MCU together, as they take place in the same world/universe/fandom, while marvel comics should be nominated under Marvel 616 or Marvel Ultimates as those are different universes where the events and characters aren't the same as their MCU counterparts.
If you're unsure how to nominate, check the tag set to see how your fandom has already been nominated and accepted, and nominate in the same format. If it hasn't been nominated, nominate however you think is best and make sure to check back later to confirm your nominations were accepted.
➡ If nominating characters from two different universes or unrelated fandoms, please nominate them under Crossover Fandom and disambiguate each character's fandom.
This is including crossovers that happen in canon. For instance, Barry Allen (Arrowverse)/Barry Allen (DCEU) would still be nominated under Crossover Fandom despite the fact that the two have met in the Arrowverse during a canon crossover event.

➡ If nominating Original Work as a fandom, please identify the gender of your requested original characters by the following:
• OM - Original Male
• OF - Original Female
• ONB - Original Non-Binary
If you do not use one of these identifications, you are leaving it as your author's choice. Please don't assume genders are obvious based off of the descriptors.

➡ Nominations may be edited when approved to remove unnecessary piping, alphabetize, disambiguate, or fix spelling errors.
Nominations in need of additional clarification will be posted to the dreamwidth community.
Freeform Nominations: Fairy Tales, Fables, Legends, Myths...
Freeform nominations will be done differently this year. Last year was an attempt at an organized tag set separated by fairy tale, fable, myth, legend, and creature. This year will be less structured. You can simply nominate freeform tags as you see fit, however, the tags do still need to be somehow related to or inspired by fantasy, more specifically fairy tales, mythology, fables, or legends.

Sign-Ups
You must have an AO3 account to sign up. Additionally, you must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of sign up.
Your AO3 e-mail will be visible to the mods upon signing up to the exchange. Your e-mail will only be used for official reasons to do with the exchange, such as an unmatchable sign-up (when you have no potential matches due to what you're offering and what others are requesting) or passing along questions from your creator regarding your requests.
You may sign up with a sock account provided you understand that the rules and requirements for both sign-ups will be the same: you will be assigned a recipient for each and are expected to create gifts for both in good faith.
Sign-Ups: Requests
You must request a minimum of two fandoms with one relationship and four freeform tags per fandom, and a maximum of ten fandoms with ten relationships and twenty freeform tags per fandom. You must also check whether you wish to receive fic or art.
You will be matched by one fandom, one relationship, one freeform tag, and your fic/art choice.
In the description box, list any do-not-wants you wish your creator to avoid including in your gift. Keep each DNW as simple as possible, and try not to box your creator in. Remember that DNWs that are not listed in the direct sign-up (within the description box) are not enforceable by a moderator.
This exchange does not allow character bashing, shipping wars, or any form of kinkshaming. Any bullying behavior at all will disqualify you from participating in this exchange.
Optionally, you may also include a list of likes, prompts, or a link to an outside letter detailing more information, as well as opt into alternate forms of treats, such as fanmixes, podfic, etc.
Sign-Ups: Offers
You must offer a minimum of two fandoms with one relationship and four freeform tags per fandom. You must also indicate whether you are willing to create art or fic.
You will be matched by one fandom, one relationship, one freeform tag, and your fic/art choice.
If you have no potential matches (others you can create for), a moderator will contact you and ask you to add to or adjust your sign up until you do have a match. You will have 24 hours to respond before your sign up is deleted so that the exchange can continue.
This an anonymous exchange. Please do not discuss publicly who your recipient is prior to creator reveals. If you have questions about your recipient's requests, please message a moderator privately so that you remain anonymous. They will communicate your questions as soon as possible.
Work Requirements:
By signing up, you are promising to write your matched recipient one complete story of at least 500 words OR one piece of art on unlined paper. It must feature one of your recipient's combination requests of fandom, relationship and freeform tags. You are also promising to make a good faith effort of creating a work they will enjoy. Do not include any DNWs listed on their direct sign-up.
Art must be original art created yourself using traditional or digital mediums of your choosing.
Fic must be complete. WIPs and single parts of a larger planned story do not satisfy the requirements for this exchange.
When posting, all works must be posted under the Fairy Tale Inspired collection on AO3. You can do this easily by going to your assignments page (archiveofourown.org/users/YOUR USERNAME/assignments) and hitting the 'fulfill' button above your assignment. When posting, you can select 'preview' to check your work first. You should note three things: the collection should be Fairy Tale Inspired 2022, the author should be Anonymous [YOUR USERNAME] and under Notes, it should say For YOUR RECIPIENT'S USERNAME. Don't forget to hit the 'post' button when you're done. Your story will remain hidden and anonymous until the collection opens on the specified day.
Defaulting & Pinch Hits
If you are unable to complete your assignment before the deadline, default as soon as possible so that a pinch hitter can be found and given more time to create a gift. To default, go to your assignments page (archiveofourown.org/users/YOUR USERNAME/assignments) and hit the 'default' button above your assignment.
If you believe you will be able to finish before work reveals, contact a moderator to request an extension. Extensions will be no more than 48 hours. If you do not contact a moderator before the deadline passes and are a no-show, your recipient will go out as a pinch hit.
If you default before the deadline, there is no punishment. If you no-show after receiving an extension, you will not be allowed to participate in this exchange the following year unless you complete and post your assignment.
If you default and then your creator also defaults, you will not be sent out for a pinch hit unless you have previously picked up a pinch hit.
Pinch hits will be announced on dreamwidth within 24 hours after someone has defaulted. To claim a pinch hit, please comment on the pinch hit post with your AO3 username and the number of the PH you want. All comments will be screened to preserve anonymity. If you claim a pinch hit, all requirements for that work will remain the same as a regular assignment.
You do not have to be signed up to the exchange to claim a pinch hit.
Treats
Treats are extra works you're inspired to create for someone's request without actually being assigned to them. Please feel free to create as many treats for yourself or others as you'd like. 🍭🍬🍫
There is no word count requirement or sketch requirement for treats. Additionally, if someone includes in their sign-up's description box that they are open to other forms of gifts as treats, you may create fanmixes, podfic, manips, etc. accordingly, and include it in the collection at your discretion.
To post a treat, make sure you manually type 'fairytaleinspiredexchange2022' in the Post to Collections field, as well as your treat recipient's username in the Gift this work to field.
Please make a good faith effort at creating a work your recipient will enjoy. DNWs and tag requests still apply. Please follow generally accepted fandom guidelines if recording podfics, etc.
Moderators reserve the right to adjust the rules as unforeseen issues arise. There will be an announcement made to the DW community if and when this happens.
